Thyroid Disease in Diabetes
DEFINITION
- Thyroid disorders in patients with diabetes mellitus are mostly similar in frequency and presentation to the general population, including hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, thyroid nodules and neoplasms.
- Autoimmunity is a major cause of thyroid dysfunction
- Insulin resistance can also be associated with thyroid dysfunction.
