DEFINITION

Thyroid disorders in patients with diabetes mellitus are mostly similar in frequency and presentation to the general population, including hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, thyroid nodules and neoplasms.
Autoimmunity is a major cause of thyroid dysfunction
Insulin resistance can also be associated with thyroid dysfunction.
