Antidepressants
DEFINITION
- "Antidepressants" have historically primarily been marketed to treat depression.
- Some antidepressants can also be used to treat anxiety (including generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, and panic disorder), post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, bulimia nervosa, diabetic neuropathy pain, fibromyalgia pain, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, and to facilitate smoking cessation.
