Insomnia Disorder
DEFINITION
- Insomnia is described as the subjective complaint of difficulty initiating, maintaining, or returning to sleep in the setting of adequate sleep opportunity.
- Insomnia disorder is associated with consequences that affect daytime functioning.
- Symptoms must occur 3 nights/week and for at least 3 months and not be better explained by another sleep-wake disorder, substance, or mental disorder[1][2].
