MODY
DEFINITION
- Maturity onset diabetes of youth (MODY) is a monogenic form of early-onset diabetes mellitus (DM), which is usually identified in childhood, adolescence, or young adulthood.
- It is characterized by nonketotic DM, autosomal dominant transmission, onset before 25 years of age, and pancreatic beta cell dysfunction.
