- Lomefloxacin has been withdrawn from the U.S. market since 1993 due to severe adverse effects, especiallyphotosensitivity.[5][6][2]
- The initial FDA-approved indications included:
- Acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis due to H.influenzae or M.catarrhalis[15][16][17]
- Acute cystitis due to E. coli, K. pneumoniae, P. mirabilis, or S. saprophyticus[13][25]
- Complicated urinary tract infections due to E. coli, K. pneumoniae, P. mirabilis, P. aeruginosa, C. diversus, or E. cloacae[14][9][11][8]
- Prophylaxis of transrectal prostate biopsy and transurethral surgical procedures[9][18][19]

- Prostatitis[4]
- Lomefloxacin 0.3% opththalmic solution (Lomeflon): bacterial conjunctivitis[7] and bacterial keratitis[3]
