- Influenza A (seasonal, U.S.) is one of the "big 3" respiratory viruses afflicting infants, children and adults along with SARS-CoV-2 and RSV.
- 2024-2025 respiratory season, estimates from the CDC, a season characterized as "high severity," and the most severe since 2010-2011. The combination of A(H1N1)pdm09, A(H3N2), and influenza B viruses contributed to an unprecedentedly severe season[4].
- Influenza cases in the U.S.: 24 million
- Hospitalizations: 310,000
- Deaths: 13,000
- High percentages landed in the ICU and required mechanical ventilation.
