- D-K biovars: genital tract chlamydia, worldwide STD causing cervicitis, urethritis, PID, epididymitis
- L serovars: lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV)
- A-C biovars: trachoma (ocular)
- Laboratory culture now rarely performed for clinical care, requires tissue culture to demonstrate intracellular inclusion bodies [Fig 1].
