- FDA approved for the treatment of severe malaria in adults and pediatric patients (May 2020)
- Artesunate (as a single agent) is available for emergency use in the U.S. (contact CDC) for severe falciparum malaria.
- Until drug supply is adequate in the U.S., the CDC remains the point of contact to obtain the drug.
NON-FDA APPROVED USES
- Mild to moderate malaria falciparum.
