- Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in type 2 diabetes.[6]
- Risk factor control improves cardiovascular outcomes,[9] but unfortunately the majority of patients with type 2 diabetes do not attain all the recommended targets for blood pressure, lipids and hemoglobin A1c.[5]
- This algorithm is designed for use to improve cardiovascular risk reduction in type 2 diabetes based on American Diabetes Association, American Association of Clinical Endocrinologist and American Heart Association/American College of Cardiology guidelines.
