Rita Rastogi Kalyani, M.D., M.H.S.
Dr. Kalyani graduated from Harvard College and the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where she also trained in internal medicine and endocrinology. She completed a Masters in Health Sciences with a focus on clinical investigation from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and is currently Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Dr. Kalyani’s research publications are related to the epidemiology of diabetes in the elderly. She is currently involved in studies exploring accelerated muscle loss and disability as a complication of diabetes in older adults. She also has an interest in gender disparities related to diabetes and its complications. She serves on national committees for the American College of Physicians and the American Diabetes Association. Dr. Kalyani is also the endocrinologist for the Johns Hopkins Total Pancreatectomy Islet Autotransplantation program.
Dr. Kalyani is also the editor of the 2013 Johns Hopkins Diabetes White Papers for patients and their families. She has been active in efforts to increase diabetes awareness and has appeared as a guest on The Dr. Oz Show and The Diane Rehm Show.
