- Molluscum contagiosum virus, types I-IV, double-stranded DNA poxvirus with worldwide distribution.
- Infects only the epidermis, replicates in keratinocytes, and does not cross the basement membrane, thereby evading immune detection.[6]
- Interefers with tumor necrosis factor-induced apoptosis.[1]
