DEFINITION

Insulinomas are islet-cell tumors.
Most common functional neuroendocrine tumor of the pancreas[10]
Insulinomas secrete insulin autonomously and persistantly, despite hypoglycemia.
Unregulated insulin secretion leads to decreased hepatic glucose output, resulting in hypoglycemia.[21]
A cause of endogenous hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia
