VACCINE TYPE

  • Third-generation attenuated live non-replicating smallpox and monkeypox vaccine (modified vaccinia Ankara; MVA) eliciting both humoral and cellular responses to orthopoxviruses.
    • Available for adults 18 years of age and older who are determined to be at high risk for smallpox or monkeypox infection.
    • This vaccine is part of the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS).
