  • The spread of paramyxovirus (Rubulavirus, order Mononegavirales, negative-sense, single-strand RNA) is by respiratory transmission.
    • Enveloped virus with structure and non-structural proteins
      • Hemagglutinin-neuraminidase (HN) and fusion (F) proteins are required for cellular entry and budding.
      • Epithelial cells, parotid, salivary glands infected; ependymal cells in CNS.
