FDA

Historically used for selected community-acquired respiratory infections; not used in contemporary U.S. practice.
Acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis (AECB) caused by H. influenzae, M. catarrhalis or S. pneumoniae (penicillin-susceptible strains)
Otitis media caused by H. influenzae, M. catarrhalis or S. pyogenes
Pharyngitis and tonsillitis caused by S. pyogenes

NON-FDA APPROVED USES

Community-acquired pneumonia
- Historical use; not recommended in contemporary practice due to limited activity against S. pneumoniae.
